Double Feature: Rock star aliens

INTERSTELLA 5555 (2003) and THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH (1976)

David Bowie and Daft Punk both composed their public personas with the same precision that they brought to their music, cultivating an otherworldly air that would make them icons for all time. So, of course, they made two super psychedelic alien movies.

INTERSTELLA 5555 and THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH both feature aliens (stand ins for the artists above) who come to Earth only to be exploited and corrupted by unscrupulous capitalists. Joining forces with anime director Leiji Matsumoto and filmmaker Nicolas Roeg, respectively, the musicians at the height of their powers tell the metaphorical stories of their own careers.
